Men Sagan as an artist

Men Sagan, a self taught artist, was the second child of Drh. Soeprapto who gained his art talent from his mother.
In 1970, he was introduced to the World famous Indonesian master, Affandi and was influenced by Affandi's art techniques. Since then, he became publicly known as an artist who has the expertise in painting Affandi's style.
To this date, Mensagan has held 3 joined exhibitions and 28 solo exhibitions. Many of his artworks are collected by private collectors around the world and his artworks can also be seen in Indonesian Fine Art Auction Hall such as 'MasterPiece’.
An expressionist painter characteristically has an urgency to simultaneously grab the movements of the moment he wants to describe along with capturing the textures of the object, a drive that often leads him to work much more passionately compared to the naturalists, the realists, or even the impressionists. Men Sagan achieved this by expressing his passion and emotion with spontaneity and intensity through his works.
He never made paintings in small sizes as he believes big canvases represent 'fierce, vivid and gallant' (copy article from Olivine art gallery)
